Default Blinkers, Highbeam lights ALWAYS on in Gauge cluster.

i own an f4i.
when i bought it, it never came with front blinkers.
In the gauge cluster, the highbeam light and both signal lights are lighted up.
wires were cut, and just hanging there.
i tried to wire some random blinkers to the front and they wouldnt blink. they are just very dim and always on.
when i signal to the left or right, the light just dies on the side i choose.

what can i do to correct this?

i have checked the fuses under the seat for the lights and stuff and all are fine. all 10vs.

does the bike not start? i had the same problem it turned out to be a corroded connection in the plug from the main harness to the headlight harness. the green wire was corroded in the plug. though my bike wouldnt start

your front wiring harness isn't grounded.

that could be it. i know the front harness was taken off cause wires are rerouted in random ways.

where should it be grounded at?

as for starting, it does! one bad thing is i believe i have one h4 and one h7 in there, also no headlight housing, just the back, and a tinted front glued to the front fairing.

had the same issue with the gauge panel, it turned out to be a short in the signal.
you should get a volt meter and do some continuity testing.
good luck

+1 on what everybody is saying. as for a good ground, find a place on the frame, on a screw, all you need is a solid touch of metal on metal and hopefully you will be fine. do you got any pictures? we could prob help out more if we can see it. sounds kind of ghetto...

Yeah I'd like to see some pictures of what we're talking about so we can try to figure out exactly what's going on. If the bike is starting, then it might not be a grounding issue with the main harness (as the bike will not allow itself to start if the front harness isn't connected).

If I bought a bike like that, I'd buy a new wiring harness and insulate the crap out of it. A few drops of rain and a short circuit and you will have a very bad day...

yeah im hoping to get some pictures up soon.
i made it seem worse than it really is, when i said cut up wires just hanging there, i meant for the SIGNAL wires. everything else is there, just hanging all over the place.
when i get some time, ill take off my front and snap some pictures.

Also, i have some blinkers on the front now, they dont blink and they arent any bright.
When i connected them, the rears act like the front somehow and are always on. then when i use the blinker, they blink.
