Blackbird handle bars?
I hate to beat the discussion of 'clipons under the triple' with a stick, but I have read in a few different places across the web that cbr 1100 stock handle bars will in fact fit without any modification to fairings. All I have seen about modification is that the top of the part that goes around the fork has to be grinded down a little to mount flush with the bottom of the triple.
I have searched high and low and haven't found a single thread in which this was tried and successful, only a "this will work' answer on a few forums. So what do you guys think? Looking at the stock bars for the 1100 it seems like they *could* work but the things are hard to find for a cheap price. I would hate to buy them and find they wont work but it looks like that might be what I do since I am so curious about the matter! If it actually did work I would think anybody that wants lower bars would have already completed the mod, but who knows!

Why do you want lower bars? The OEM bars are already low to the fairings/plastics while turning.
The last three bikes I have owned before the f4i I have lowered the clipons below the yoke and added rearset risers to get the more aggressive stance when riding. Personally I like it better which in turn makes me want to successfully make the adjustments. If the 1100xx bars cant be mounted lower then I will give up on the idea, but its just one last shot at achieving the goal. Looking at pictures the birds handle bars are risen a little more than most so I think there is a greater chance for them to work than the stock bars or anything else without modifying the fairings or intake covers. Besides, I would rather pay >$100 for another bikes stock bars than buy an aftermarket set.
