bike wont start help?
alright well i got most of the oil out buy turning it over, however when i put the spark plugs back in and try to start it, it turns very slowly.. a few times it seems like it wants to start but fails... any ideas?
That's something to keep in mind for anyone who lays their bike down. If there's sufficient time for oil to seep into the cylinder you risk bending a connecting rod upon trying to start it. I doubt if the starter is capable of bending a rod but if you tried to start it and a "clean" cylinder fired, a subsequent "oil-filled" cylinder could theoretically bend a connecting rod because of the power generated in the firing cylinder. Best to pull the plugs and blow out the cylinders if you suspect that oil seeped in.
Apparently time alone won't allow the oil to drain back down into the block - the recesses in the tops of the pistons must retain enough oil to prevent compression.
Interesting...
