Big problem F4i going crazy
Ok so heres the problem but first just a little history on my bike. I bought my 2002 honda cbr f4i used with 3,530 miles on it. When i bought it the guy said he replaced the battery did a fresh oil change and everything was good to go just needs a rider.( It now has 5xxx miles on it) So after about 2 months i notice when at highspeeds and i slow down my headlights appear to be smoking bad. I noticed i had a oil leak after i would store my bike. So i ignored it filled it up with car oil and got it to the shop soon as possible. After i took it to the shop they said i over filled it more than 4qt of oil was in the bike maybe 5 qt. So i found out that the leakage was due to engine covers loose. This is what they did to fix my bike torqued all engine bolts to spec. check engine oil level test ridden and they say its ok. they used repsol 10w40 liter oil and changed the filter after i told them speceficly to use honda gn4 oil thats recommended for the bike. After i got my bike back my headlights still was smoking that problem wasn't fixed. HERES the BIG problem. So now i go out for a ride tonight as im riding my bike the sound switches and it sounds like a loud harley/ lawn mower it sounds terrible and smells very rich. Also it feels very sluggish. From time to time a dim red light that says F1 is flashing very dim. I pulled over turned it off. I turned it on reved it and i saw a blue flame fly out of my exhaust. Please help it did not sound or feel safe when i rode it home. Anyone know whats wrong????
so thats the problem the fuel pressure regulator. That causes the bike to sound that way, feel sluggish, shows a dim red F1 light on the dash, and a blue flame come out of my exhaust, and the very rich smell its giving off??? Any other advice anyone else has went through with this. Is it safe to ride to the shop so i can get this fixed??
FPR - ya - I was researching the FPR last night using the search. Seems that if the bike sit a long time they tend to go bad. When they go bad they leak gas. Sometimes when they leak gas, it gets into the oil. This could also explain why you're oil level was too high - a mix of oil and gas. Also - make sure you're checking your oil level correctly (NOT on the sidestand - straight up and down).
A bad FPR means the bike runs rich...
If you can make it to the store - go for it.

3.5 quarts of oil right, not 4 and really not 5.and don't worry about the repsol oil versus the Honda, butI don't know if overfilling had any negative effects on your bike.
actually in the manual it says a full crankcase oil change with oil filter is 3 Liters that's a hair over 3 qts.. Check your headgasket. Sounds like oil is getting into your exhaust from there. Is there oil in your coolant?
Wow i found the problem you wouldnt believe what was the problem. My spark plug was very loose dangling and knocking up and down i could see it through the right fairing. I dont know how it got loose but that was the problem my engine wasnt getting enough power that explains the sound and everything. I took it to a shop thats what they told me they test drove it and said they didnt see any smoke from my headlights so i guess its fine until night time thats when it usually happens and its more visible.
