Default Battery smoke

Hey guys 2002 cbr f4i
I don’t think this has anything to do with it but I replaced my front headlight bulbs and when I went riding my running light turned off but I’m able to turn my high beam light on just the light.
I ride home and find out my battery is smoking. I pulled battery and it’s cooked. Everything else seems fine. So my question is what can cause my battery to start smoking? Can replacing the bulbs cause this? I replaced the rectifier and stator 2 years ago. Thanks guys!
Ps. Bulbs are stock replacement H7

First thing to check has to be the regulator, almost certainly the fried battery is due to over voltage. Put a meter on and rev the bike to maybe 5,000, the voltage should not go over 14.8v

Regulator was bad. After testing also the battery with old regulator the voltage sky-rocked, new regulator and it all evenly balanced out. This issue did cause my headlights to blow out and my battery to fry itself from the power pushing through it.

And like many, you didn't start changing random unrelated parts before analysing the problem and using logic to identify the cause ;-)
