Default Audi lights and HID's

I installed Audi style lights in my headlamp using these:

I also installed a 35 watt HID kit from DDM tuning. The led's are as far away from the HID bulb as possible. Should I have installed some type of heat shield? How much heat does the 35 watt HID's throw off?

The strips will be fine; the HID isn't close enough to do anything.

LOL of course. You gotta expect it. I put these leds when I had my rx-8 and about 8 leds on each side went out within 3 months, so just look out and check those in a few months.

Cool thanks guys, I'll just keep a close eye on them. I'll post pics this week of the finished product.

that came out so killer! i was planning to do pretty much the same thing except run mine along the top. do the HID's blind out the LED's though? i wasn't sure if they'd overpower them.

Default heat shield

yep you should put some kind of heat shield ,especially if you are running hid's . i did that last year and the bulbs on the high end( go out in 3's) went out from the heat from the hid's. i used the metal foil tape this time around when i added the halos, but you definitely should, its a job you don't want to do over and over again. this is how the new job came out:
