Anyone have a Valve shim kit?
I am going to be disassembling the bike for cleaning and maintenance. Need to do some wiring and electrical things, a cooling system overhaul, fluid change and i have to install this APE CCTL that i bought like last year. The bike has like 37000 so i think its time for me to get the valves right.
I know some forums have kits that the members use when they need to do their clearances. Anyone have a shim kit that I could use? Anyone know where i can get a kit if nobody wants to pony one up? thanks for the read.

You don't need a kit, measure your clearances do some simple math and go order the shims you need through honda, remember though going through honda the shim sizes have to end in 0,2,5 or 8 such as 1.90, 1.92, 1.95, 1.98. try to get the number as close to spec as possible there are several shim sizes that will work but only 1 will get you right on or near the number

well i got the bike last year with 26000 miles and it has 37000 miles now. I can feel that it is lagging under 4000 rpms when i leave lights and whatnot. I just bought the kit.
Maybe i assume that there are other decent trustworthy people who would lend out tools and the whatnot to other trustworthy decent people. Maybe i am just expecting too much out of society.

Shims arent tools, they are parts. they cost $6 or so a piece. The problem with measuring and ordering is if they've gotten tight like mine have in the past. you can't just measure and order, you have to change them with some that will give you clearance and then re-measure. The kit allows you to measure and go. the only downside Ive had with the kit is there are only 4 or 5 of each which sometimes you need more. I had to grind some down.

I'm in need of some advice.
I had my head off my 05 cbr600f4i to repair a stripped spark plug.
While setting the head back on the motor and threading the cam chain through it's appropriate slot somthi g got hung up and while i was tilting the head to see what was hung up 2 of the buckets fell out on the floor and one of the shims fell out. Now the head is sitting on the motor and i found the shim but i dont know which was which. They are both intake buckets. One shim is 2.08mm and the other is 2.06mm.
What would you recommend for me to do. Are the shims close enough in size that it wont matter. My next step was to check the valve clearances but im trying to save myself some extra steps.
