Anti-freeze everywhere!
Hi guys, haven't posted in a while but I keep reading all the great posts weekly. So, finally got a nice day and I started the bike up for the first time in about a month. I left it running in my garage while I was inside on the throne. When I came out, my bike was overheating and the anti freeze was pouring out of the overflow hose. I shut it down, and fortunately there is a brand new bike shop literally two blocks from my house. So I rode it over, told the mechanic what happened and he says this-mind you I dont know this guy so I dont know how valid his opinion is- "Since your bike was sitting, the thermostat was probably just stuck and cause the bike to over heat, I'll fill your radiator back up and you will be good to go" Sounded fishy to me but I aint no mechanic. So then after letting it run for a little while 10 -15 mins, the temp hits 220 the fan never kicks on and his story changes to-The sensor that tells the fan to start is shot (for some unknown reason) and he needs to order it from Honda and he'll get it installed by Friday. All this make sense to you guys or should I be going to take my baby back from this shop today! I ride a 2001 F4i, Never had a problem with it, I treat it like my daughter. Any one have a price range on a job like this so I know if he's trying to rape me?

RE: Anti-freeze everywhere!
The thermostat sensor is $54 on BikeBandit.com. It is number 19 on the parts breakdown, and the O-ring is number 21. It will take you longer to get your body work off than what it will take to change this switch. The shop is going to charge you a minimum of 2 hours to do the work at roughly $65 an hour. It's cheaper and easier to do it yourself, and learn something in the process. Hope this helps!
