...i didn't know you were using a different gearbox (mine only has 6)

how's that build coming?? it'll suck if you get her back together by the end of this season (because you'd have to look at her all winter) maybe if you can have her ready to go for next season!

Its a sportbike.. its made to be ran hard. Now if your stunting, and crashing is a norm then your hard on it. But also yourself so it works out lol.

 

Apparently they can be over babied.. I bought my f4i with 13000 km on it. Made the deal, the guy went to get it certified and they had trouble starting it. Turns out the valves, pistons and cylinder head where carbon coated or something and just a lot engine build up in general. The mechanics said the guy didn't get the rpm high enough while driving so all this **** was never getting cleaning out. So i wouldn't hesitate on getting those rpm's up!

 

That doesn't make any sense. That bike was barely used and stuff will build up from the bike sitting around. Go buy a carb'd bike thats been sitting for a year and try to start it without rebuilding the carbs.

 

I would think the only way you could be really HARD on it is to rip the hell out of it when it is cold on a consistent basis. Otherwise I think these things are pretty bulletproof....

 

Impossible to hurt them. Unless you put oil in the tank?

 

so what would u guys say a cruising rpm is? say you're in 4th, mph doesnt matter. how many rpms are you guys cruising at?

I've been cruising around 3500-4200. its definitely not bogging down at all. but this is my first motorcycle, so im curious as to whether im still at too low of an rpm or not.

I've been watching my tach lately. I ride mostly in the 5500 - 6000 rpm range. This keeps me in a nice little range to give me great throttle response in case someone does some crazy crap around me.
