I'm hoping to find a nice F4i in my area (NE Ohio) for $4,000. I want an '01-'03. I'm looking for something that will not need anything for next season, under 25,000 mi, well maintained.

Am I unreasonable? It seems like there were more bikes available at this price last season. I'm actually finding more 929's and 954's than F4i's for this price. I just don't get it.

 

I just a bought an 03 with 15k for $3800 two days ago. I had to search forever,I was seeing many of them over 5 grand which was driving me nuts. I saw the same thing though, I found many 954s and even a couplerc51s for less than the F4is I was finding. I actually went to a dealer about 3 hours before I bought one privately and they wanted $9000 ($1800 was dealer fees)!!!! for an 05, I laughed all the way to craigslist.

So, am I just too cheap?

 

I have only done a visual inspection (I pick it up tommorow) but the bike started and ran just fine. It seems to be in good mechanical condition. It has brand new tires on it and a micron high-mount. The only issues are the previous owner painted the windscreen which bugs me and there is a small area of paint thats rubbed near the headlight. Overall though its one of the best looking used F4is I have loooked at, I will have pics up and a better idea of the exact mechanical condition this weekend.

Bike prices down here in Florida are nuts though so for me I think it was just a case of good luck, its a navy guy who needs to sell and I had cash (his original asking prices was $4500 then $4200 and he settled for $3800).

 

4000 is about the average price under 15k miles. sometimes you can walk away with 3800 and sometimes 4200.

 

I bought mine with 3k miles for 4.8 last year, i was thinking about selling it for 4000 this year...with 8k miles.

 

keep looking on your local craigslist, I got mine for 3,800. I wouldn't pay more then 4k for a 03, unless it hasreal low miles like 8k.My had 16K and its near perfect, it has one small mark on the bottom. But, you get what you pay for.
I'd just wait it out, something will show.
anyway, "I think" that the 01-03 f4i are so hard to find (in good shape) because its a great bike, andawesomefor stunting. I know a few guys that have had around five already, they just keep buying up. If you watch some stunt videos all mostlyhave a few F4is. So I just think, every day another one bites the dust. That means less-n-less.
Also,starting with the04 F4is have banana seats, Ugly. That makes the 01-03s even better, looks just like the RRs, andfor way cheaper.

 

I maybe thinking about selling mine. Not sure yet. But i have two f4i's let me know if you may have interested
