Default alternitave master cylinders..

ive searched with no real results other than finding a few riders have swaped the master cylinders with a radial type master on our bikes with other makes and have had good results.

every time i get on my bike, and i see the bike next to me, i wish i had a newer bike, or atleast some of the newer features.. and the black master cylinder box is one of my gripes.

but... whats the difference? ive read that this cup style master is known as a radial type master, but not only is the resivour different, the way the brakes funtion with the caliper is different? any truth to that?

also.. if someone can shed light with this mod, ive heard that mounting is all about creativity.. any pics? thanks guys.

Are you referring to a NON remote resevoir MC? Those have the resevior built into the MC and is NOT joined by a tube.

The radial MC is different than radial calipers.
Radial calipers refer to the way the calipers mount to the fork legs. Look at any new 1000cc bike and compare it to say.....an 01-02 1000cc bike and you'll see the difference.

A radial MC had the lever pushing directly on the plunger. It does not run laterally with the clip on, it's opposite, you pull directly back on the plunger with the lever. It is said to offer much better feel. Most new liter bikes come with this from the factory anymore.

I just got a Brembo Radial MC. Have not mounted it yet as winter sucks but mounting is no more than unbolting the old MC and bolting up the new on the clip on. Nothing tricky about it. The tricky part is either paying a billion dollars for the brake light switch/bracket or fabricating one. THAT is the hardest part.

Hope this helps. If not..........google search and you will find all you need.

ok, thanks for shedding light.. going into this mod, i was going into it 100% cosmetic, but if i can get some function out of it, great. i knew there was a difference in the braking design with radial, and non.. didn't know till now it was all in the calipers. and you could use either or MC's either style brakes, or atleast normals types.

im just tired of that black box.. i want a stand up, bottle type resivour on my bars.

tahoe, do you have any pics?

haha, tell her you'll behave.. lol

strips easy.. thats odd, i would think it would be as strong, if not stronger than a automotive type, since its exposed all the time.. oh well... prices we all pay for performance/looks...

not the cap itself, but the 2 small screws that hold the resevoir cap on...they suck! i still hate them to this day, and i don't even have it on my bike!
