Actual Top Speed?
#11
I had my 04 f4i with stock gearing top out at actual speed of 145mph verified via a gps. I didn't look down at my speedo to see what it read but i know it would be higher, and no i didnt look down at the gps either, it stores the info. When I'm cruising at freeway speeds the speedo roughly reads 5mph faster than actually going. So when it says I'm going 80mph I'm really doing 75mph. I would guess it gets more inaccurate with higher speeds though because in town in reads very close to actual speed.

I think there sooooooooooo many variables to this question one will never get a good exact answer...
i mean at top speeds, weight, wind, heights above or below sea level....
at a mere 130lbs. i hit 135 and i was only half way through the rpms....
so ide say that 160 would be easily attainable speed...
also all of those out there using gps's for speed determinations.... gps are EXTREMELY INACCURATE way of measuring speed as well as position.... (thank you technical physics)

Just to chime in, there really is no top speed with our bikes. Our bikes are made to be on the road and have fun on two wheels.
Sure, some may get to 140MPH, some may get to 150 and some may get to 160, but at that speed, its really only for statistics.
The bikes that the pros use may be labeled the same as some street bikes (like 600RR or Yamaha R1), but they are built by hand with only the top quality non-standard parts, rebuilt after every race and tweaked to performance exactly for the rider that is on the bike considering almost as many factors that you can think of. That is why those guys (and girls) can go as fast as they can.
For what it is worth, get a camera to record your speedometer, get to your fastest and then you got how fast your bike can go. If you are lucky enough to get airstrip time, more power to you!
I went as fast as 130MPH and had enough.

no way you can hit 135 at 8k, even if there was no one on the bike, at 8k rpms its only spinning the rear tire at a certain speed, which is not 135

Sure, bikes come with minute variations even though they're supposed to be identical, but they all come off the factory line with the same drive ratio. Only way your bike could be doing 135 mph at that rpm is if you or someone else custom geared it WAY high.
