Default 87 VS 93 Octane

So, I know that the debate over which to use has been beat to death. BUT this is not a debate just an observation. I have been switched between 87 and 93 octane a couple of times recently. I have noticed that while on 87 the bike runs slightly warmer just in low traffic, gets up to fan temp faster in heavy traffic, and runs the same temp on the freeway. Nothing close to being alarming but just an observation. Power wise i have noticed no difference, and i will keep using 87 in the near future. As it turns to summer and the temps get higher i may consider going back to 93 if the temp becomes and issue. Just an observation.

I'm interested too... I like running 93 so I can look like a jerk at the pump LOL.

I like the links....:-)

"Conclusion
In most cases there is no reason to use and pay for expensive high octane gas. Unless your car was designed for such gas:
[/align][ul][*]High octane gas does NOT improve gas mileage[*]High octane gas does NOT improve power output [/ul]
Exceptions: If your car is explicitly designed for high octane gas, use it. If your car has engine knocking problems (and your car manual says it's okay), using high octane gas may reduce the knocking."

If you think about it, your actually not saving that much money. Your not driving an Expedition, your driving a CBR. I drive an F4i and it has a 4 gallon tank. at $3.35 a gallon for regular and $3.59 for premium. If you fill all the way up with 87, you are only saving about 90 cents. why?

You're right, it is not much savings. I agree with your logic.

ya your right, its not much savings at all...its only $.90 every 120 or so miles...lets see...i did about 10,000 miles last season...so that equates to about $75...but ya...thats not alot at all...save that $75 and go buy a new pair of riding gloves
