i just did my swingarm conversion this weekend. you need the 03-04 600rr swingarm, 03-04 1000rr rear shock, 03-04 brake caliper bracket or the whole set up but the bracket is all you really need, a 6"grade 8 bolt with nut and lockwasher, and you will need a longer chain. here is a walk thu of it, it should help alot... if you have any questions just let me know...

you will also need to make some bushings (2x for axle, 1 for the brake bracket) to use the f4i wheel n axle. Its a good time to install new sprockets and chain since you have to get a longer chain anyhow. I added 4 links plus2 masters to a 110 link chain fyi too.

Other than it looks cool and its custom, whats the point? Are there any real advantages? Sounds somewhat easy, and would require of alot of work.

I guess a advantage is you have a better rear suspension. It is slightly longer i believe which could be good or bad. Its not like the F4i is putting down massive amounts of power, so it being beefier isnt really a advantage. I dont think there is much risk of twisting forces on the swingarm. It definitely looks nice and i would imagine it would weigh slightly more, but i could be mistaken.

That being said, if i were to put a new swingarm on my F4i it would be a SSSA off a VFR. Now that is sexy...

yeah there is a slight difference in weight. its nothing that you will notice when ridding it. the reason i did the conversion is when i got my bike back in 05 i came across the how to and thought that it looked sexy. its something to set my bike apart from the other f4i in my town. to me its addicting ppl that get tattoos say that once you do one you wanna keep getting them. well for me once i did this one i wanna do more to make it different. im already trying to figure out a undertail exhaust system for it.
