Default 600rr to a f4i?

alright... im new to this site and i searched prior to this post. i came up with one guy asking the same question i am but he didnt get any solid responces. he asked is it worth it to get a 600rr motor and swap it into a f4i.
my question is similar...
my friend is GIVING me a complete 600rr motor with 6k on it. my 2001 f4i has almost 17k on it and i am really interested in swapping the motors. is there anyone out there that has done this? knows what is needed to preform the swap? pics? advice? details? etc...
any help is appreciated.
thanks in advance

Welcome to the site. Why do you want to swap motors? If its for increased performance, the 600RR motor has maybe 10 more hp than the F4i which to me would not be worth all the hassle.

i personally think you would be better off getting a frame and making a track bike out of it but the swap won't do you much good. You'll get a few more hp and some mid range but thats about it. You'll probably need an new wiring harness, CDI unit, rectifier, and all the main electronics for the 600RR. Let us know how it turns out.

you should take the free motor .. sell it ... and buy parts for your f4i and enjoy. unless ofcourse you are doing an insurance job on the bike and thats howyou are getting the motor and in that case you wouldnt be able to "legally" sell the motor unless you did it without paper work but ofcourse you wouldnt do something like that

Why? They're not *that* differently tuned.

Keep the RR motor for if/when you blow the F4i, in the mean time, just ride and enjoy.

well, my thoughts were that the motor has under half the milage as my current motor, a little more horse power, a little bit stronger mid range, and a higher rev limit. plus the motor was free (no it wasnt an insurance job, lol) so i figured if it wasnt a hard swap then why not??!?! i was hoping someone on here would have done it already so i could get some advice.... the motor was kinda given to myself and a friend of mine to "split". he said if i wanted to swap it then i could have it but if the swap was to hard then we are going to use the motor and fab together a little kart for the motor to just have fun with. i really would like to do the swap though if possible without too much hassle.
thanks for yourcomments thus far

I would doubt You can make a direct swap. Mounting points and motor dimensions are different. Also the main reason the rr motor puts out8 more rwhp is due to the ecu and fuel injection system.

you'd have more fun taking that motor and rigging it onto a go kart of some kind, now THAT would be worth the effort!
