Is a 600 a good bike for a beginner

RE: Is a 600 a good bike for a beginner
the "i" is for (fuel) Injection.
The F4 was build in 1999 and 2000 as I recall. (correct me if I'm wrong)
The F4i came out in 2001 and the last year was 2006 which is really too bad. The only current 600 that Honda is building is the 600RR.
The 2001-2003 models have a split seat arrangement similar to the current 600RR. The 2004-2006 models (and the F4's) have a single "banana" seat.

Hey Deacon, welcome to the site.
This is a common question and I'll just throw my usual .02 in.
If you're new to motorcycles, then no, a 600 sportbike is not the best choice. They are very fast and agile and therefore they bring out the temptation to ride beyond one's abilities. Learn on something tamer then just upgrade when you're ready. What's the rush?
So many riders are going to disagree with that but I think MOST people are better off learning on something other than a sportbike.
Let us know what you decide.

Thank you for your reply Wildcat. As I mentioned in my initial posting, I've been riding a 250r and I took the MSF. I weigh 260 and I can basically bench press the little thing. I'm not sure if "rider weight to displacement" ratio matters on a bike, but the 250 is slow with me on it. It's sufficient to learning, but I dare not jump on a highway with it. That's why I've been considering a Katana 600 or the CBR. I'm not too familiar with the CBR, that's why I was asking for advise.
