Default 3rd dead reg/rec in as many months.

Whats up guys,
My bike it killing 1 reg/rec a month for the last 3 months.

1st was the original which was failing when it got hot

2nd was a 2nd hand one off ebay which failed after a few weeks and overcharged and killed my battery.

3rd was a new electrex RR which was fine until yesterday and now only puts out 12v at the battery at 5k rpm and less then 11v if i put on lights.

I've done all the tests everytime each one failed and eveything seems ok.

Checked all connectors which were tight and clean

Disconnected stator

no resistance between pairs
Continuity between pairs but no continuity between each wire and ground.
Started bike

Checked ac voltage at each pair which was 38v on all 3 at 5k rpm.
Should the ac voltage from the stator be higher than 38v on each pair and would this cause the RR's to keep dying?

Thanks for any help on this as its really doing my head in

cant realy help since im no guru. i have just changed 1 out on my 2000 this week. 1 thing that was wrong on mine was the po had taped it up and put it under the tail. this is a race only bike. they get very hot so they need to be in open air and atatched to the frame to keep them cool.
so if yours just happens to be hidden away, out of the air, i would put it back to stack location. our 07 rr has it right on the front of the bike, and all of the new 1's have cooling fins on them.

Voltage from stator should increase until it gets to about 75. If your R/R is dead, replace both as the stator is probably also probably part of the reason for failure after the first replacement. Had this happen on my VFR. Go with Rick's Motorsports Electrics, reasonably priced and the R/R is beefier than OEM.

1st one failing happens. 2nd one doesn't suprise me since it was used. 3rd could be a fluke as I've had several new things fail on vehicles around me recently.
