2003 F4i Fuel Filter Issue?
Hello everyone, I’ve got a 2003 F4i with super low miles. It was likely sitting for a while, but idles and runs pretty good. I think the idle is a bit low, and hovers around the 1100-1200 range. I’ve been having an issue where the throttle feels gutless when accelerating hard from a stop. It also occasionally loses throttle power and stutters at 8k-10k rpm when I’m low on fuel (not empty, I’m not that dumb). Gas mileage is pretty iffy as well, but I’m not 100% sure. I’m thinking it’s a fuel filter issue, since it’s been sitting for a while. I think the added pressure from having a near-full tank is allowing it to work normally, but as the tank gets empty, the fuel pump struggles to push fuel through the filter and to the engine. There’s also some rust in the tank, which likely isn’t a huge part of the issue, but worth mentioning. Any help would be appreciated before I pull the fuel tank off and start working. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum, lets see some pics of your bike. We like pics.
Idle is about right for the F4i, do you have a manual? You could have a problem with your FPR (Fuel Pressure Regulator) Section 5 of the manual covers the pump, FPR and injectors. I would start there.
Of course cleaning the tank would be a good idea as having rust in the system in never a good thing.
