Exclamation 2002 F4I stumbling on ecceleration

I've had my 2002 F4I for about 1 1/2 years now with no problems. recently during these winter months I've noticed that the battery was starting to die. I hooked it up to a charger for about 8 hours then rode the bike around 80 miles. Everything started fine and worked fine. then I parked and came back about 4 days later when the weather was nice to ride again. the bike did not start! like the battery was really dead so I just pushed started it (which was really eeasy) ran it up in the mountains for about an hour. came back parked the bike. then the next time I took it out I had to push start it again. This time the bike was stuttering on ecceleration on the highway. and one time the bike actually diedand I had to push start it a stop light(embarrasing). Any way my question is could the bike actually turn off because the battery took a ****? or could there be something wrong with the charging system , Statonator??
Any responce will be appreciated. Cause although I am gonna buy a new battery on payday it would be nice to know if there could be something else wrang with my bike. Thanks

It's going to be one of those problems, either the battery is crap or it isn't charging properly.

I'm not sure how you can for sure diagnose as one or the other, personally I'd replace the battery and see if that changes the problem.

Easiest way to check that your stator, or any part of your charging system, is real simple. Put the new battery in, start your bike then remove said battery if the bike dies then there is a problem with your charging system. Bikes don't need the battery to run, just start, if your bike dies after removing the battery that means the bike is robbing power from the battery to run and that will kill a battery quicker than anything!!

From what you said though it just sounds like your old battery is toast.

Do a load test on the battery at any auto parts store. Most do it for free.
