Default 2001 4i lower fork problem

Hello could anyone help please ?
I have a 2001 4i that has a damaged lower left had side fork bottom where the seal seats where some idiot has rammed a screw driver in there to remove the seal
My question is does anyone know if the 600 fx 1999 - 2000 Showa stock fork bottoms are exactly the same as the i4 Showa stock ones so I could put all the internals from my i4 forks into the fx fork bottoms.
The reason I ask is cost of new i4 ones from fowlers made my eyes water and there just happens to be a pair of fx ones on ebay.
Any help would be much appreciated thank you.

If you look up both parts on https://www.cmsnl.com ....

It says the the F4i left bottom is 51520MBWE11, the F4 left bottom is 51520MBW003.

I believed that the legs and stanchions were the same, Honda changed the internals, so the above doesn't make sense....

There's this:

I'd be surprised if the internals are much different as well. May be the spring rate and shim restacked to alter damping?
