All bikes can be death traps, even our beloved F4i's, if your head isn't in the right place. But you're just asking for is if the only thing on your mind is your weight, and not the 600cc-1000cc difference. On the other hand, as long as you have the self control of a saint, then you can safely get on a 1000RR, no problem. But in your case, 240lbs is nothing for an F4i. If you're too heavy for a sport bike (like a defensive lineman), then you need to go with a cruiser.

Don't take the F4i for granted.

Everyone has their two cents (sense) of advice it cuz as a sportbike rider, we all care bout each other and hate to see another rider die, whether its your fault or another driver. You never plan on an accident but you can prepare for one. If you get on a bike with only one year of experience on a 600 and you die. We would all feel bad, cuz our "expierence" as riders has seen it and done it. And some of those we don't want to do again. Be safe and make smart decisions if you decide to go with a 1000. We all know these bikes are fast and we don't have to prove it to anyone. Ride cuz you love to ride and not to impress someone at a stop light you will probably never see again.

yea i even tho i ride a 1k, i would say if you want and feel like you can handle more power then move up to the 1k, but not just because you "think" you weigh too much for your f4i. what i think you may be feeling is that your weight holds back your acceleration like your 180 lbs. buddies. thats what i think... but biggest thing is respecting any liter bike. believe me i still am and forever will. ride safe.

i can,t comment only been riding 4months but get the bike suspension set up properly and have a power commander fitted and go to some track schools, because i am sure inexperienced riders have not got any near the bike/riders full capabilities i,m sure you,ll forget about a thou then.
