Hey everyone I put on the 520 -1/+2 and I gotta say..it makes a big difference. I would recommend it. I think I am going to get the PCIII ignition mod and have the local shop tune it. I need the speedo healer, is there anywhere cheaper then $90? Thanks in advance.

How much easier is it to do a wheelie now?

I think it's funny that 2 Honda mechanics didn't know if my sproket was stock or not. I didn't know either and couldn't say. So now I know to just count the teeth.

instead of changing gearing, couldn't you just keep the revs up high, or am i way off here? I was thinking of doing the same mod, but if all i have to do is rev higher, than why waste my time?

in laymans terms. going higher in the rear sprocket or lower in the front has the same effect as using a longer lever to move an object.

It allows your engine to use the same amount of power but have a greater mechanical advantage. The tradeoff is you will run higher RPM to achieve the same speed.

I haven't regeared mine because I really don't need it. The F4i will wheelie in 2nd gear, and has more than enough power to kick the rear out on 2nd and 3rd gear corners. I like to be able to cruise in a lower RPM on long trips.

If I get good on the track I may start playing with final drive gearing (chain and sprockets) to match the transmission to the tracks I will run, but that is a long way off.

Most people just do it for the feeling of acceleration.

thanks. I really don't think it is worth it: 0-60 in 3 seconds is fine with me.

$27 sproket, $89 speedo healer, $300 USBIII for a little more accel and extra heat on the engine. I'd probably do it if there wasn't so much involved. I like the low RPM on trips too.

Good explanation.

yea but sometimes it's not feasible to keep your RPMs so high or to have to wait until higher RPM for more torque...like in traffic or communting sitations, etc.

Most of the time they will stamp how many teeth are on the sprockets if it is a different size than stock.

i've never had a problem keeping my revs up, just took a little practice with sound. I ride at 6-7 ALWAYS, my band kicks in at 7-8. My power is right there if i need it. I'll save my $$ and my shifting foot!
