The Red Bull can gave Helena wings!

This chain was probably never cleaned, in fact I am not sure the kid that owned the bike ever cleaned anything! I spent the better part of two full days scrubbing everything and she is still not as clean as I would like her to be.

Even got the front sprocket area spotless!

This is what I used to clean and lube the chain. Believe it or not both of those pictures of the chain above are lubed! This stuff is runny as water and completely clear. I got it at Ace Hardware for $8 or so but heard it can be found at Lowes as well.

Installed the HID kit. The bulbs fit perfectly as you can see. No cutting required like with the DDM kit.

I zip tied the ballast and wiring up under the fairing stay. Everything fit perfectly and doesn't interfere with anything. It all hid really well with nothing sticking out the bottom or the front bit of the windscreen where you can see through behind the gauges.

The lights are a really deep bluish purple. I like the color and they are not insanely bright!

And... here she is in all her glory. Still a bit of work to do, but I am pleased with everything so far!

She's lookin great man. I really like that red windscreen - it sets off everything else very well. The HIDs look sick too.

Yeah, I still have some red bits to do, gonne do the rims red, red chain with black sprocket, red/black D3 grips, red painted calipers and rotors, and red forks. Everything else will be blacked out, even the exhaust!

EDIT: Also gonna do white reflective rim tape over the red rims.

Is it OK to paint the rotors? I thought about doing that, but then I was worried about what paint might do to brake pads...

Can't wait to see it all finished up.

VHT sell a caliper & rotor paint, so I assume it is fine. I think the only concern would be the brake dust getting embedded in the paint, not the paint getting in the brake pads. But I could be wrong, I am going to do it anyway. You can just use me as the test subject I guess... lol
