Default 01 F4i Headlight Issue

HEy guys, new to the forum here.

Recently picked up an 01 F4i, and have found that the headlight doesnt work as it should.

When i turn the ignition on, the light is on, but when i start the engine, it turns off.

It usually turns back on again after about 5mins or so of riding.

And thoughts on what this could be and how I could fix it?

Thanks for the help.

welp, the F4 and F4i facebook page had it covered, the start switch is catching and staying in, all I need to do is pull it out with my finger, until i figure out why its catching at all.

Give it a tiny squirt of wd 40 on the button pivot and work it a few times.

I know a lot of f4i riders had this problem with the starter switch sticking, me included. You can try what demon suggested it may be just dirty. If that doesnt work take out the assembly and take a look, what you might find is the contacts have gotten grooves in the metal itself or the plastic holding it is bent from years of wear. only real fix is to replace the whole assembly. If thats whats going on, you may be able to earn yourself some time by putting some shims in the sides (anything of the proper thickness will do I think I used some folded pieces of paper) this fixed it for me for 2 wks while I found and ordered the part
