At the track it would be really hard to know your actual 1/4 speed taking into account the error and your "trap" speed shown is the average speed over the last 60 feet of track. So at the point of tripping the lights your speed, wrong speedo or not, will always be different than the speed on your timeslip.

There are so many things that can affect a 1/4mile time. Its like a dyno, you can only really compare the numbers from the same place, time, temp, humidity, rider, track prep, wind and elevation. Changing any one of those will affect your times. A F4i at sea level will beat a 08 600RR at 10,000ft no problem.

Going down hill has nothing to do with a set gear ratio and rpm. The bike redlines at 14,000. 14,000 rpm means a set speed per gear your in.
