Question '01-03 & '04-06 differences

Does any one know the difference between the 01-03 & 04-06 main wire harness? I have an 05 F4i that the harness is pretty chopped up - and I'm wanting to just pull it and start over. I just don't want to drop $200 bucks on a new one, but all the used ones I have been able to find are 01-03.

Can I use it?

Thanks for the info.
Barry

im just trying to help, i dunno for sure, i think the rear subframe part might be the only difference, but that would be relocatable. im pretty sure it would work, have you checked bikebandit? ill go look real quick

i just checked, the only difference is the reg, rectifier and the ecu. they are much further forward-under the front seat instead of the rear.
if i remeber right, you have a split seat rear tho, im sure you could make it work easily
this is the 04+ diagram

the 03- diagram

i hope that helps!

Hey thanks vangill... yeah, I had checked the differences on cheapcyclepart.som (same diagrams) and the only difference I could tell was the reg & rect locations.

but they are different part #'s. Front harness is same part # and drawing in both diagrams. I just want to make sure the connections are the same, you know? that is what I'm worried about.

So you don't think the actual harnesses are different though? I don't know where they would be.

Thanks again for the info.

I'm 99% sure you'd be fine. And even if something was just a hair different, you'd be able to fix it without much more hassle. But that's unlikely.

+1 with Aken, most likely a few extra plugs if that.

Thanks everyone! Gonna go ahead and get the harness... and yes, frustrating is a word I've used several times. Trying to get this F4i back to "normal", for lack of a better word, that a guy had half-*** stunted the bike out.

I traded for the bike so I would have something to work on and tinker with, been pretty fun so far. Wiring is just kinda kicking my butt - thinking it would be easier to replace than fix at this point.

just about everything is fun to work on on the bike except wiring, i feel you-i just re wired mine with my own wire and i had to splice into sections, my whole headlight section had to be redone-the only thing i hated doing on that bike
