Default Slips out of neutral?

my bike got stolen not too long back but luckily it was found ive been in the process of rebuilding i finished everything and it starts and the engine sounds great. however i just put a new chain on and a new clutch cable but now my neutral light does not come on.

i grounded the sensor wire for the neutral switch on the block and it turned the led on so the wiring should be good.

the specific problem is i can find neutral (light does not turn on) but when ever the tire moves theres a click near the front sprocket and then the tire stops and in its second

im thinking it could be an internal problem in the tranny and it will just need to rebuilt but if its just something thats an easy fix i would rather do that haha

any ideas?

Anyone have any thoughts?? I started school today and that's my only ride to class do I'm bumming it and getting rides till this is fixed unfortunately.

I unplugged the sensor again and took it out and it feels like it moves w/o problems but I still have no neutral.

How is it supposed to work? Is it supposed to push into the gear and lock neutral in place or am I just chasing a dead end?

Thanks in advance

That's weird, I never ran into a problem like that and I have taken my shifting assembly out many times. Could you clarify "lining the dots"? I'm not sure what you meant. Thanks!

The shifter assembly has two dots stamped into both the pedal link and the spindle on the left side. I just rushed through that part of assembly so the dots did not fully line up it allowed the bike to kick into gear but would not fully engage the neutral (weird). But I alligned them both up and everything works good now and I was able to take it for the first drive since rebuild yesterday.
