Default Shifter too loose

I've noticed how much play there is in my shifter linkage. I've
Taken it apart and tightened
It but it will get too stiff to shift. Is there supposed to be a bearing in the shifter??? I don't think Honda would have designed these shifters so poorly lol.

where is the play you're getting? when you say linkage, I'm thinking about the rod that goes from the shifter pedal to the clamp on the transmission shaft.

There's no tightening the ball and socket connections (to my knowledge). are you referring to the shift pedal pivoting on it's shaft?

Sorry for the confusion, I'm referring to the shift pedal pivoting on it's shaft. It seems like the entire shaft is turning.

i know what you are talking about. mine is so bad it effects my shifting. if its like the f4 shifter, take it off and rebuild it by wrapping it with teflon tape. it takes the slop out and shifts a hundred times better but, it doesnt last long, you will need to rebuild that pivot point every two or three weeks if you ride every day. the teflon tape just wears out. or if ya got the money you can buy the parts brand new. until i come up with some kind of thin bushing thats what i do.

Thanks for that idea. Never though of it but I'll try it out. I still can't figure out why Honda never thought about putting bearings in the pivot joint! I'm going to see if I can find a perfect bearing that would fit in there.
