Default "Run/Off" Switch question

Should the bike crank with the Run switch on OFF? Mine does and I'm wondering if that's a sure sign of a bad ground or short.

Thanks.

Yes, typically it will, it disconnects the current to the coils, not the starter.

It's a safety mechanism to shut-off the bike easily, in the event of a crash.

Another weird question.

My kickstand has been causing weird issues since I replaced my R/R with a GSXR unit.

So I unplugged it and then it got weirder. The bike wouldn't do anything. I hold in the clutch and the headlamp comes on but the temp gauge was at the very top, past the scale.
I put the ground wire (green) that goes to the kickstand, also shares a ground with the R/R and it fired right up!
WTF. Where do I begin?

yea, that's weird lol. make sure the ground is good coming out of your R/R (green) and make sure you have the ground bolted to your frame. that one is where your gauges and headlights ground too, so it could explain your temp gauge and headlights and ****.

Have you looked at the wiring diagram? Kickstand may have common ground with gauges.

Also, at least my bike, if it has the kickstand down, it shuts down if it goes out of neutral.
So it wont start or do anyting also if is on first gear even with clutch in.

that been said, the kickstand ground probably is commong with a few other things...
