question about forks

yeah, ws jut thinking out loud really. just a bit wary, in all my years messing with bikes i have not done the fork seals. cant be too hard.

I get what you mean - sometimes when an issue comes about, your mind settles on a nice quick option, to get things back up and running quickly, and rebels against the idea of needing to do more... I've been there many times!

Take them completely apart and clean them as well. Then put 50/50 ATF and 50W oil in them. Makes up for the poor damping action of these old forks. NEVER pay a shop to put seals in these old forks, they're just too easy to do to pay some monkey at the shop to do them.

I believe the first thing I ever did on my bike was fix fork seals. The mistake I made was to assume the previous owner had them in the correct way. Yup I did it twice.
