Default overheating problem

i just bought a 92 f2 my first street bike. i was riding in a parking lot getting used to it. the temp gauge had rose up. i dont remember exactly how high. i heard clicking like the fan was trying to turn on. the bike died and would not start untill it was cool again. i tore the bike apart and ran power directly to the fan and nothing happened. there was not clicking sound either. does anyone know how to fix this or should i buy a new fan?

how long were you in the parking lot riding around? As long as you weren't doing big rolling burnouts or something, the bike shouldn't be getting insanely hot - if the needle is swinging into the red zone, the fan isn't going to be enough to keep you cool, although it is something you want working, so look DRLOWZ up.

I'd check the cooling system out asap.

This thread might help - seems lots of people describing similar problems this time of year.
