That's very interesting, and why would honda sells a fuel pump/filter if they didn't have it for that particular year. I'm going to back off on this a bit since my F2 was sold over 10 years ago.
IMO
1. Fuel filter is very basic/standard. My 94 cbr 900rr does have a fuel filter & a fuel pump. Many parts between the 900rr Vs F2/F3 is interchangable. If they put one on the 900rr (92-95) wouldn't you think they would put one in a 600 F2.
2. Many do bypass the fuel pump, making it a gravity feed set up. It's a cheap mod to save $$$ vs replacing the pump. It is later when fuel injection was presented, then the pump was gone.
Let wait until others chime in....

Great, try to forecast your purchase early online...paying stealership price & taxes is $$$$$
I shop eBay & other online store...but eBay sometimes present the best offer when seller wants to sell. I just got 2 oil filter. One for $6.50, other one for $7 shipped. But I'm don't need them until next oil change. But price is too good to pass up. So plan early to buy and save a ton.
Also, after a thread gets old, members don't like to ready all previous comments, you should post a new thread, with new title, then other F2 members can jump it to help.

Just got back from the Honda dealer; the 93 f2's do not have a fuel pump or filter.......possibly why they are so temperamental in terms of gas contamination. The process for keeping the jets, floats and carbs clean is rather detailed. Maybe why so many folks are haveing trouble keeping them running smoothly. Has anyone ever added a fuel filter, if so does the bike run better??

Wow...guess we live and learn every new day...
If stock is w/o pump & filter...It's gravity feed by stock. If adding a fuel filter, won't that disrupt to flow of gas, meaning slowing down tue gravity pull. That's a whole new chapter when talk about adding set up which is not stock...
I say get your bike running first, then worry about any mods to improve the bike later.

Great minds must think alike...........I agree, not messing with a filter until I get it running. The guy did say that the inside of the tank has a long "filter" like strainer......and sure enough, when I got home I looked, and ta-da, there it was. Mines not in bad shape so I'll not mess with that either. Thanks again for all your help and support.

If you notice the parts diagram, they have two set ups. It is a generic type diagram for the F2 and F3. The section to the right in the diagrams is for a system with a fuel pump, which had a fuel strainer (F3). The set up to the left is the F2 without a fuel filter. In the parts list below the diagram, for the 93 F2, there is no listing for the filter (no 4) that is shown on the right of the diagram.
In my Service Manual for the 91-93 F2, there are no pumps or filters listed. The diagrams do not have any in line filter, just the in-tank screen.
The PO for my bike did install an in line filter Honda P/N 16900-MG8-003. It is the stock for the F and F3 as well as GL, but not the 600F2. There are problems with adding the filter; the space is tight and the gas lines can kink easily, or have feed problems because the line drops below the float level. (my present problem). I just replaced my filter and it was pretty cruddy - proves I needed a filter to begin with.
