Need new caliper bolts!
I was going over my bike today. Installed fresh tires, cleaned calipers, and installed new pads on the front. When I mounted the calipers on the forks, I was torqueing to spec and noticed one of them just would not tighten. I stopped and backed it out and looked at it. It appears to be stretching to the point its going to break before it tightens. So................ where can I find new bolts, I looked on Ron Ayers and some of the others OEM dot coms and they all have the same picture that dont seem to have the bolts I need. Unless I am looking wrong. I dont see the bolt that goes through the fork tube into the calipers. Dont want to order the wrong stuff. Thanks.
I figured it out, I guess I couldn't see the trees because of the forest. +1 to ya JankCibber, we got an Ace Hardware 4 miles away with a crap lot of nuts and bolts etc.
So I went to Auto Zone all they had was grade 10.9 metric. SAE was grade 8. Is the 10.9 ok or should I keep on searching. All the metric stuff was 10.9. The guy at the counter said they are about the same. What do you experts think?
Well after digging around on line I finally found a site that explains bolt grades between SAE and metric. I appears SAE grade 8 is about the same as metric 10.9. Great! I just couldnt go with what the Auto Zone guy said. You never know what they might tell you just to get you to buy something.
