Mechanical issues to look out for?
Hey!
I bought a CBR600FN from a friend of mine with 53,000 miles on the clock about 2 1/5 years ago.
Custom black paint job, Dyno-Jet Stage 1 kit, K&N Air Filter
It runs like a sewing machine!
Still hits 145....... revs smoothly, occasion rattle from CCT but otherwise a healthy machine.
She's now done 70,000 miles and I was wondering if anyone can give me any pointers on any issues I need to keep an eye out for over the next coming years!
Prevention rather than reaction stuff really.....
I ride my baby every day for work and also the odd jolly when its not snowing.....
I've had the cam chain and CCT replaced at 60,000 miles, she gets serviced every 12 months, has all the usual wear and tear items replaced regularly (chain, sprockets, tires, battery, Sprocket carrier bearing, fork seals etc)
I'm going to get the valve clearances checked shortly as there doesn't seem to be a record of them being done anytime after 25,000 miles according the the receipts.....
Any pointers would be appreciated.

Honestly - sounds like you've done all the important stuff. If you're planning on having the valves done by a reputable shop - then sounds like you're on the track.
Sounds honestly like you're better on your maintenance than a lot of us are.
Keep a eye on how the clutch feels, inspect the cable for fraying.
riding a bike regularly keeps them in better shape than letting them sit.

The regulator/rectifier failing, is a somewhat common issue... with that kind of mileage, it's possible it has already been replaced/upgraded, but if you DO still have your OEM R/R, you might encounter issues at some point.
I'm at over 25,000 miles on mine, and I'm still running my OEM R/R, but I have a replacement on hand, ready to put into service.
You already mentioned the other very important item, which is valve clearances... these motors are incredible, very well built machines, and I've known quite a few guys that claim their clearances are in no need of adjustment, even at the second and third check interval, but I would do it soon, if I were you, to be on the safe side.
So, welcome to the forum, and let's see a pic of your ride!
