Default Honda cbr f2 crank shaft.

Hey new to this forum and just wanted to ask a question because i bought a cbr f2 since week but it needs alot of work. I got it really cheap so thats not a problem for me. The motorcycle isnt in running condition right now and thats why i need some info. The owner that i bought if from said that it needs a new crack shaft cause the one that was in it got damaged. I know a mechanic that said that he can make one but am wondering if thats a wise decision even though the way he showed me how he did it seems solid but just wondering if its better to just get one second hand but because i live in jamaica thats kinda not so easy to do because f2 are so rear. He says that the way he makes them is to cut the bad crank shaft in half and remove the bad half and re-use the good half by welding that good half to another crankshaft and then use that. Am just wondering if any of you cbr guess out there have ever heard of someone doing this and can it work as good as a second hand crank shaft or am i just better off buying a complete one off the net? Thanks for an answer in advance. And just to say, the bike has been sitting for 2years with that problem and just got it for something like U.S$500.

Ok so a few things to note:
- How do you know the crank is bad?
- If it is bad, I wouldn't trust a chopped and welded one. These things are made to micrometer specs, and you just can't get that with welding. Any slight warp will kill your bearings and journals very quickly, leaving you with a broken crank, again.
- So the guy cuts off the 'bad' part of the crank (assuming its only half bad???) and replaces it with a good half? Where does he get the good half? Unless he imports only good half cranks, to me you'd have to cut a good crank in half to do it, which doesn't make sense.

Well the mechanic that had it said that he told the owner from awhile that when he was changing the bearings that the crank was going bad. I'll have another mechanic check it out and see what and what it needs but just wonna know which one is the better choice.
