Default Headlight went out. I am stumped.

Never had an issue with my headlight before. I started the bike last night and it flickered then went out. I check the bulb, good. Checked fuses, good. I am getting 12 volts at my head light plug on low, then check my high beam, also good. I am completely stumped.

If I am getting 12 volts at the plug, then why is my light not shining?

Ok. Now something interesting. That previous test I said I was getting 12 volts at the headlight plug was without the lightbulb plugged in. With the lightbulb plugged in, I backprobed the connector, and am now getting 0 volts. I am so confused at where to look next. What would cause this?

i just had a similar issue on my f3
check voltage between the ground wire, and the high/low beam wires
if only one is getting voltage, then check the beam switch, make sure all connections/solder joints are good.

if neither high or low beam wires are getting voltage, then check your starter button. do the same thing, make sure all connections are good, re-solder any that are not, and clean it out.

your problem Should lie between those to switches.
mine just had a broken lead on the starter button, took a whole 5 minutes to solder it back up, and pretty much all that was letting the soldering iron heat up...

I wish I could give you a hug. I just blew the head gasket in my corolla, so my bike is my only means of transportation while I am rebuilding the rolla. I have had a hell of a week to say the least. Head gasket blown, washing machine down, microwave down... Then my effing headlight in my bike all within 3-4 days.

I pretty much checked everywhere but my starter housing for some reason, and just now found the poor connection in there. I thank you kindly for the help, good sir. You definitely were spot on.

What did you use to clean out your housing before resoldering? Any kind of fluid or just compressed air? Again- thankyou. It is crucial I have this bike running and street legal. It's my only means of transportation for a few more days.
