new update...I cleaned the carbs. so nothing left but ignition...how many parts we looking at checking. I figure the plugs if nothing else are good? I don't see how all this happens from sitting.

:/ verifying spark is really easy. you dont even have to pull ur plugs. Just get an extra spark plug and pull the wires and use that plug to test for spark on each cylinder.

Try draining you float bowls on the bottom of you carbs. There will be a little flathead head screw that goes into the bowl. This is where the gas is held in your carbs. Unscrew that you dont have to take it out all the way just loosen about 3 turns gas should come out of the nipple below. Do this on all 4 carbs this will let you know if your carbs are getting gas. Also if your carbs were empty its gonna take a while for them to fill up because the petcock only operates when there is vacuum. So its gonna take a bit of cranking to fill them back up. Your best bet is to spray starting fluid into the carbs and try to get it started. If it starts you know its a fuel problem

When you cleaned the carbs, did you pull the jets out, soak them overnight in carb cleaner and blow them out with pressurized air? Did you verify that each of those tiny, tiny holes is clear? A lot of people think cleaning the carbs means just the bowls.

hi quartazz

i have this problem last weekend, i do every test, "spark, fuel, compresion, stator, plugs resistance, etc", but my real problem was this: on my ICM connector bad connection not bad wires, just bad plug.

when you crank the bike the carbs suck air hard, if not 2 things, you have too much closed the idle cable or too much open.

my idle cable was to much open when i couldn't start the bike, try to turn the idle cable at the half turns, because if you have the idle cable too much close or too much open the bike wont start only cranks, and try to find where is sucking harder the carbs until you can start the bike.

But first you must drain a little bit the floatbowls (put a plastic glass below), like dustinjklee says.

When I cleaned the carbs I pulled the jets, emptied the bowls....and took what i could take apart apart and let it soak...minus anything that was rubber. Blew everything dry, and reassembled it all. So I guess its off to get some starting fluid when I get off work... anything else I can try when i get back to the house? Also I got new iridium plug installed will the repeatingly trying to start the bike when trying to build up a vacuum in the petcock cause them to become fouled? As a recap of what I have done. New plugs, GXR R/R upgrade, cleaned carbs, verified spark, checked fuses

How did you fix the plug on the ICM?

Bypass your gas tank and petcock by plugging the vaccum line on the carbs and using a makeshift fuel container hung from above. Try to run the bike with this. If this doesnt work then your problem lies in the gas lines or the petcock. Maybe the vaccuum line is screwed up not allowing gas to get through?

do you happen to know the size fitting to get for the fuel and vacuum lines?
