F2 Fuel Filter install
So since the F2s do not have a fuel filter i figured it may be a good idea to buy one at the local wally world for a whopping three dollars. I figured the FRAM G2 would be a cheap solution. Anyone in the past install a fuel filter and have issues with fuel getting to the carbs? It is a "high volume" fuel filter, but who knows if that means anything when the petcock is ran through a vacuum system. Will do a write up if it is a good idea to do or if i should just return it and let the screen do it all.
I used a Visu stubby inline filter like this on my 91. I have a F3 non vacuum petcock and the fuel flows good to the carbs. I put it inline between the petcock and the T for the carbs. Its a tight fit but if you cut the hose properly it wont kink.
Do you think it will work decently with the vacuum operated petcocks? Or will i have to get a F3 gravity operated and have to worry if i turned off my gas after each ride?
So i got impatient for a reply and i went ahead and put the sucker on there. For the FRAM G2 series the hose that they provide is a tad small so if you want to use it like i wanted to you have to twist and push it onto the T connector to the carbs(or cut off a good piece from your old S hose and use that) and hook it up to the tank. I took it for a 10-15 min drive testing all of the rpm ranges and i found that i had better performance than with my dry rotted S hose. I recommend this to be done to every ones bike for preventative measures.
I'll be taking pictures of the install tmr, i have to use a bit of the S hose to go from the carb to the filter. It likes to kink itself like an idiot. Lots of fuel in the filter which is nice, kinda like an extra reserve in itself.
