So I took a ride to work and everything was going go until after a few hours I went to go check on my bike to see if it still there and it was. but so was a basketball side leak. It was Gasolina... AGAIN!!!. I tried the tighten the screws on(ebay petcock doesnt have rivits) and this seem to make it slow down a lot so it seems it just vibrated loose. I tried to get a few more turns to make it stop and it only got faster. It seem the screw is now stripped. the gasket that is there does not hold the gas back once the bike isnt running. I thought I found someone that used something to seal it better like liquid gasket or something. Guess I will go there in the am. So screwed as I work 3rd shift and there is no one to take me home so I guess I will have to risk it and limp it home. I just hope I dont catch on fire and have enough gas to get me home... If anyone has a fix for ebay petcocks beside liquid gasket and lock nuts please let me know ASAP.

 

Not that it helps you on third shift in the parking lot, but what a lot of people do is buy high quality rebuild kits for the eBay stuff. For example, eBay has copies of really nice FPRs for about 1/10 the cost as genuine ones. People buy them, and then rebuild them with the genuine company's rebuild kit (essentially a spring and a diaphragm), in order to get the quality parts they need, while saving a lot of money.

Your petcock shouldn't be complicated, in fact, a local hardware should have the quality o ring you need to stop the leak.

And remember, tighter isn't always better when it comes to seals. Over tightening can unseat the seals and accelerate leaking.

Got home safe (Praying the whole way home). I think I have found a solution that might seem overkill but nonetheless do able. I do have a rebuild kit that is in my old petcock that was oem. I will check it out. I will have to drill out the rivets for the side that was leaking. Here is what I found:

Personally I'd just order a new petcock from Ron Aters or Partzilla. Gas leaks are to dangerous on a bike for me to risk it.
