Hi : Dou think a master cylinder from a 1999 CBR will work on a Honda 1975 CB550F with dual drilled rotors ? The original brake master I tryed to rebuild but does not want to move enough fluid to make the pads stop the rotors . Even when the master was new the front brake was soft. G Colgett

 

I can't imagine why it wouldn't work, but I've never used anything that wasn't application specific, so I'd like to see what others have to say.

 

Depending of the piston size you might not get the feel you are looking for but it should work with no issues. I have used many modern masters on vintage bikes. I love the nissin 5/8 master. the 14mm might give a bit softer (and better) feel on those old calipers. Lines on the old cb's are like balloons now. Consider replacing them.

550f is a great bike. I had one in sunburst orange.

 

You are right. I plan to replace the hoses with HP SS hoses as soon as I install the Masster cylinder. Gcolgett
