will do i will send sea foam through the system, and then clean them out again. when i am inside the carb bowl, how should i adjust the jets? tighten them back down to what they were when i took them out to clean them? the petcock is basically wide open all the time.

As far as the jets go there's really nothing to adjust. If you take them out then yes, just screw them back in to a light, hand tightness. You have to buy completely new jets with different bore sizes if you want to change things up.

Did you adjust the pilot screw when you took the carbs apart? That's important for starting and idle of the engine and needs to be set correctly. It's the one on the outside of the carb, between the float bowl and the ruber boot.

i think i may have turned one of them, crap. is there a stock amount to turn maybe, like 2 and 1/2 turns out or something. i took all the spark plugs out and they smelled of gas, cleaned them up with wire brush, installed and it really wanted to start but still didn't, maybe the pilot screw is my problem.
Thank You

Initial settings for pilot screws are 2 1/8 turns out unless you are in California and it's 2 3/4 or Canada where it's 2.

If you have fuel on the spark plugs then you are missing either air, compression or a spark. Did you check all the plugs for good sparking?

yeah getting good spark, when i was cleaning them and checking the gap. was out setting the pilot screws today, i live in az so i did it for 2 and 1/8 but i know i got the guy bike from a guy in california, and i guess he had it for a track bike, hence there was no lighting at all on it and no left hand control. ill try 2 and 3/4 and see how she does. i noticed when i was turning it over, it sounded like it wanted to start with full throttle and choke. the more turns out of the pilot screw the more fuel? is that correct?

Thank You guys for all this help BTW

should i take the spark plugs out and clean them after each time attempting to start, i may flood the carbs and foul the plugs, if that's the case, should i take the plugs out and clean them after each fouling or flooding?

ok so i have been doing some looking and researching, and tuning, i have figured out i have a California model with all the evap canister and valves, all are taken off tho, i adjusted the idle adjustment screw to 2 1/8 turns out, since all the evap valves and canister were missing and still wont start. would it still be 2 3/4 since it is a California model?
