Idle control screw cable

Idle control screw cable
I've searched this forum as well as others and have looked through pdf part diagrams to no avail. When I bought my bike, the idle screw cable extension was attached to its anchor bracket but not actually screwed into the engine. Where does it screw in? And what are the effects of it not being there at all? (the bike still runs right) Thanks in advance for the help

All the idle screw does is push on a lever connected to the butterfly valves in each carb body. As you turn the idle screw it pushes on the lever and starts to open the valves slightly, raising the engine idle. It just does exactly what turning the throttle does only it stays where you set it. Not having it connected would only be a problem if your idle is too low or too high and needs adjusting.
One thing I would check is if the idle cable is just not screwed in to the carb body or if it is actually broken. If it has screw thread on the end then it should be easy to reattach it to the carb. If there's no thread then it's probably a broken cable.
