Bike running only with choke engaged (carbs already cleaned)
Hi, this is my first post on the forum, let me say what an awesome community!
I just got the bike a couple days ago and it had been sitting for nearly 3 years with fuel in it. So the first thing i did was read the carb cleaning sticky and i went about cleaning the carbs. I followed the instructions carefully and the jets are squeaky clean.
Now that the bike is put back together it is running, however it will only run with the choke engaged! Even when it is running temp I cannot take off the choke without it dying. When it is running temp it runs between 3000-3500 rpm with the choke on. I can SLOWLY take the choke off and get it to run at about 2000 rpm with it one quarter to half disengaged.
I saw the other thread about this problem with almost the exact same symptoms and the answer was clean the carbs, since I have already done that what should my next step be... crank up the idle?
One noteworthy fact is that I do not have a compressor so I could not blow out the hoses but I blew some canned air through them and they didn't seem to be blocked.
thanks in advance
