Question Annoying clang

Help this bike is driving me nutty! I have a loud single clang like someone hitting a sauce pan with a metal spoon. It clangs when you pull the clutch in or release the clutch when moving at slow speeds, or rolling on/ off the throttle quickly at slow speeds. Cant hear it at speed. I thought it might have been the chain hitting the swing arm but ive run with it tight and loose with no difference. Could it be something in the clutch basket ie broken spring or maybe cush drive. i have some play in the cush drive and also some in the output shaft where the front sprocket mounts on, is that normal? Any suggestions appriciated before i start ripping it apart. The bike runs great apart from clang.
Its a cbr 91 with 19000 miles

Loose calipers perhaps or pads moving? can you put it on a stand and try and pin point the noise?

I would have guessed the chain as well. Definitely pin-point the noise before ripping into it. Get a buddy to stand in a parking lot and then slowly ride around him until you hear the noise.
I have had success finding noise locations by putting a screwdriver handle against my ear and touching the tip to different parts of the bike.

Default Loose centre stand?

Hi Apophis
If you have a centre stand try putting an aero elastic round it to hold it tight to the stop.
Then have a ride out and see if it makes any difference.
Good luck buddy.
Ride safe

No centerstand fitted, had a mate listen but all we can tell is its coming from the bottom of the engine! Its every time you pull the clutch in and again when its released think im going to look at final drive sprocket and clutch basket. unfortunately it doesnt do it stationary only when drive chain is under tension. I can remember being able rock my front sprocket back and forth but there was no play on the splines, is that normal to have some free play here does anyone know?
