I didn't even know such things were out there.
Sounds like a good idea to me, Most of my experiance is also with other drivers not seeing me in time or just plain not looking........

The Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989

Lamps to show a steady light

13.—(1) Save as provided in paragraph (2), no vehicle shall be fitted with a lamp which automatically emits a flashing light.

(2) Paragraph (1) does not apply in respect of–

(a)a direction indicator;

(b)a headlamp fitted to an emergency vehicle;

(c)a warning beacon or special warning lamp;

(d)a lamp or illuminated sign fitted to a vehicle used for police purposes;

(e)a green warning lamp used as an anti-lock brake indicator; or

(f)lamps forming part of a traffic sign.

=============

Now technically you might be able to argue that a lamp in which the brightness is being modulated (ie where the light level is changing but it's never going off completely) isn't flashing (ie where the light alternates between off & on) however YMMV and whilst I think they're an excellent idea Mr Plod may not agree.

Oh and whilst we regularly see pushbikes with flashing lights the above paragraph was amended in 2005 to make this legal.
