First time drag racin a bike, are my times respectable?
Hey guys, I took my '02 F4i to the Vegas drag strip, I'm used to runnin mustangs into the low 8 second zone but I have found a bike is a whole different animal. I have seen spec stuff on my bike sayin high 10 sec times but outta 5 runs all but 2 were low 12's, my best was 11.942 @ 118. Is this up to par for an F4i with a pipe and power commander 3?

Don't pay alot of attention to magazine times. Alot of them have been "corrected" for sea level. They used to call this the "Orange County Dyno" cause it was mostly done in CA. What were your 60 ft. times? That's where your ET's are made, just like with your mustang. Practice practice practice. And if your F4I is still stock gearing, I'd suggest at least going 1 down in front.
My best 60ft was 2.04, I know that's killing me the stang pulls off 1.5~1.6, with the bike it's either I about kill it or stand it straight up! I figured those tested numbers were kinda bogus, my first run was a 12.3, and I thought....how they pullin high 10's outta this bike? But I think a few more practice nights and I can get it to run mid 11's....
Ummmmm, yea, it doesn't matter if your runnin 1/8th or 1/4, 60ft times are still 60ft times. I'm not doubting your mustang runs 10's pulling a 1.3 60ft, that's great, but the class I ran in (wild street), I had to run drag radials so keeping an 1100 hp car from spinning was a little difficult, so yes, I pulled a 1.5 60ft but ran 8.20's at 170 mph...not bad for BFG drag radials.
To answer another question I'm leaving the line on bike at about 6~7 thousand rpm, kinda slipping the clutch and carrying the front tire a few inches high all the way through first, according to the videos.

actually, thats horrible for bfg's....whats funny is I never hear about lynch, vrettos, and wolfe and all of them complaining about getting 2000hp to hook up with their315/275's on stock suspension moving 3400# to a mid 1.2
Yea 1.5 and 1.6 is what a 13 second stang pulls in the quarter. I never went v8.20s but I was pulling 10.30s on a 351 with no power adders and my 60fts were 1.39. Here's a pic of my car and yes it does matter if your running on the 1/4 or 1/8. An 8.20 on the 1/8 is like a 13.second pass on the quarter. I've drag raced all my life and your words just don't give. Johnnyh.
