Default 954rr vs V-rod

I have a buddy that has a brand new 08 V-Rod. I have a 03 954rr it will have a yoshi rs3 slipon, and a bmc air filter. Maybe ill have my pcIII and dyno tune by then dunno though. well he wants to race, says he can take me, I know his bike is stock, except for pipes, maybe a airfilter. I dont think i should be worried should I? we are gonna race from a dead stop, 20 mph role, and 60 mph role. i think ill blow him away. just curious to see what u think.

the vrod is long heavy and can launch harder than you could possibly imagine. that said, its only 600 fast when moving but i wouldnt do it unless you are real good out of the hole

I looked up the official numbers a while back, from what I remember my 89 F1 should match a V-Rod to 60 and through the 1/4. I don't think you've got much to worry about. He'll have a massive torque advantage in the rolling starts, from a standing start you'd probably beat him through the 1/4 by at least a full second, rider skill being equal.

i am pretty sure i can launch better than him, but a massive torque advantge? he has 84 ft pounds of tq at the flywheel, 954 is rated at 77 ft tq. not a HUGE difference considering the weight difference i think... but thats why i asked

He'll hit peak torque at much, much lower rpm though, so he'll probably pull ahead at first until you get the revs up.

Depending on rider skill on both ends, he'll take you out of the hole, but you'll beat him long run. From 20, similar, but you'll pull on him earlier. From 60, he'll have no chance.

Did any of you see the episode of PINKS with a V-Rod against a GS1100 Suzuki? The GS1100 was an early 80's model and it killed the V-Rod. I have a 954 and a V-Rod has no chance at all. So what if he gets you off the start because as soon as you get rolling you are gone. As for the rolling starts your friend on his V-Rod will be sick when you fly away from him. Do the rolling start from 20 first and he will not want to run anymore when he realizes what he is up against.

dont worry about getting your bolt ons on and other misc mods together before the race......just go do it
