Pretty much any old plastic frame slider is good. A frame slider won't stop damage but will usualy prevent major damage. The plastic ones will will break apart on impact but will prevent a lot of damage. I've seen the "L" shaped ones bend causing damage to the bike I forget what it did exactly, but it did stop a lot of cosmetic damage, and it stopped the bike right away causing the following rider to take quick action and running over the fallen riders ankles. The hard or metal frame sliders won't give like the plastic ones and might show denting on the frame. If you want looks get the spiked ones and squid it up.

I can't imagine a plastic slider offering much protection in a slide. Plastic tends to melt quickly. I have Woodcraft sliders on mine. They look nice, although I hope I never have to learn how well they work.

I've ordered lots of things from various places during the past 12 months. I think I might have gotten the sliders from kneedraggers.com.
