I did mine.
$100 for paint, thinner, sanding pad.
I would do it again. Just make sure you get good paint, I bought SEM its about $10 a can.

If you rattle can it, and it comes out badly, getting decent paint to stick without extensive work will be a problem. You can spray a bike with a small compressor and an airbrush, and you'll have a far better finish in the end than with a rattle can job.
