Default CBR F4 rattle

Well, took my bike in for a rattling noise.
Told me I needed a new head, because they heard/felt the noise too.
So, they put the new head on and rode it, saying the noise they heard went away. So, I'm riding it and I still feel the rattle. Which means they heard a noise that I didn't hear, and though it did need a new head cuz one of the guides had a groove wore into it, I still have an issue. Here is the whole process.
*Wind up my RPMs in first gear, begins to rattle.
Shift into second to stop rattle, begins to rattle again.
Shift into third, rattle stops, and continues as I gain more RPMs.
It continues to do that through fifth gear, and stops when I reach 6th.
Then I can ride smoothly with no rattle. *
I can't ride higher RPMs for more speed because I'm worried it will mess it up.
My valves have been looked at and are adjusted properly.
Like I said, it has a new head.
Now I'm thinking CCT, what do you guys think ?
Gonna get the APE manual tensioner if it is the problem.
Just, I wanna get some feedback before I blow the $50.

does the bike rattle at idle or when you rev it up? does it sound like it is coming from the top of motor or bottom? have you looked for loose nuts bolts? if you can hear it faintly at Idle you may want to take a screw drive rest it ware you think it's coming from and put your ear on it and listen it no stethoscope but does in a pinch. hope this helps to figure it out.

W/o knowing/hearing more, the CCT does sound like the issue.

Frankly, I don't think the shop you went to is worth much if they didn't recognize this. Any shop worth its salt would've started w/ the smallest/simplest solution first & worked its way thru proper troubleshooting procedures to find the correct problem.

You may have actually needed a new head but I have my doubts.

Hope you get it sorted & corrected asap.

it sounds good at idle. there are no problems with that.
all i know is, it is coming from directly in front of me.
I haven't been able to put my head near the bottom of the engine while I have been riding it unfortunately, :/

Try standing next to the bike while it idles and slowly move up through the revs. See if the rattle appears at a particular rpm and if it goes away at higher rpm. If the rattle comes and goes then it's probably something loose rattling at a resonant frequency. Have someone rev the engine while you try to locate the sound better.

Is the noise a really consistent one or does it sound a bit random (does it change in volume/pattern etc)?

I think it is probably the cct though. I think the ape manual tensioner is worth the money even if it isn't the problem. Once it is in you can forget about the cct.

I would say the noise is consistent. It doesn't get any worse with gear change.
It doesn't start as soon as you get in to the gear. But as you accelerate a little more,
getting into a certain RPM range, that is when the rattling becomes more obvious. I just purchased the tensioner, and hope to asssemble it myself. I have a service manual, as well as I know of a video of a CCT being replaced on a one year newer f4i. so it should be the same thing.

does the rattle come from directly in front of you or from where your right knee is? take a long piece of tubing hold one en up to your ear while the bike is running and fish around with the other end you should be able to pinpoint the rattling.I have the ape CCT and can tell you that its great, havent had a problem yet. just make sure thats your problem.
